This documentary shows the different concepts and ideologies behind the new business models of the gaming industry. We see how economic considerations influence the work of games designers of free-to-play games like "World of Tanks", "League of Legends" or "Skyrama" and we visit the Game Developers Conference (GCD) in San Francisco.

The fate of two villages in East Africa, for generations both dependent on the cultivation of cotton, the most important natural resource for our clothing industry. One village cultivated its crop according modern agricultural standards with all its technical innovations and expensive imported chemicals – and is now dying in a trap of debt. The other village followed a tradional, organic method of cultivation and after only a few years is able to enjoy a certain modest affluence and confidence in the future. Ten years ago, Germany was considered as the "sick man of Europe". However, during the last years, the country became the motor of the euro zone. Some praise the efficiency of the "German model", others criticize the merciless rigor of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. In Bavaria, citizens consider financial solidarity with the Greeks as problematic, as well as the financial equalization among the federal states in Germany, for which Bavaria had to pay billions of euros. In Stuttgart, the protests about the controversial rail station project "Stuttgart 21" raises the question about the poeple's participation in political decisions. In Thuringia it comes to the lack of minimum wages and in North Rhine-Westphalia to the so called "Energiewende" decided by Angela Merkel, with all the contradictions involved. This travel through the states of Germany tries to illuminate the internal political challenges of a country, poorly known by its European neighbors. 50 billion euros in Greece, 70 billion euros in Ireland, 40 billion euros in Spain - one Euro-country after another is forced to support its banks with huge sums of money in order to equalize the losses incurred by money worldwide from bad loans. But where do the billions go anyway? Who are the beneficiaries? With this simple question the award-winning business journalist and nonfiction author Harald Schumann travels across Europe and gets surprising answers. The rescued are not in the poorer Euro states - unlike commonly believed - but mainly in Germany and France. A large part of the money ends up with the creditors of the banks that want to be saved or must be saved. And although these investors have obviously made bad investments, they are - against all logic of the free market economy - protected at the expense of the general public against any losses. Why?
