Climate change and displacement - How people are being forced to flee their homes

Over the past 10 years, climate change has displaced an average of 70,000 people, every day. This, according to figures from the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR. Poorer countries are particularly hard hit. There is no universal legal framework that would offer these people protection. Climate-induced displacement is not recognised as a valid ground for asylum under the Geneva Convention. Now, three countries in Latin America, the Pacific and Asia are responding to an emergency that directly affects each of them. One of these countries is Bangladesh. It is one of the places most severely affected by climate change. In 2024, around 2.4 million people in Bangladesh became internally displaced. Most of them lost their homes due to a natural disaster. Cyclones and tropical storms cause devastating damage, while rising sea levels are flooding mangrove forests and agricultural land. Melting glaciers in the Himalayas are causing flooding along the rivers. In new model villages, communities displaced by soil erosion and salinization are being provided with accommodation and land. In Colombia, pressure from lawyers led to the legal recognition of the first

The America Most People Never See | Leaving Society Behind | ENDEVR Documentary Hidden deep in the forests of Oregon, a small off-grid community has chosen to leave modern society behind. Far from cities and conventional life, former addicts, ex-convicts, dreamers, and outsiders search for freedom, healing, and a fresh start in one of America's most isolated corners. This documentary follows the lives of people trying to rebuild their lives on their own terms. Some battle addiction and loneliness; others struggle with love, loss, or the lasting scars of prison. United by a desire to escape the pressures of the outside world, they have created an unconventional community where survival depends as much on one another as on the land itself. With intimate access and striking cinematography, Unpaved: Respite from the World offers a rare glimpse into off-grid America, asking whether it's truly possible to leave society behind—or whether the past always finds its way back. This documentary first aired in 2023. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ENDEVR explains the world we live in through high-quality documentaries, special investigations, explainer videos, and animations.

The People America Sacrificed for the Atomic Bomb

Between 1946 and 1958, the U.S. detonated 23 nuclear weapons over Bikini Atoll, unleashing a firestorm that would poison four generations. Nuked resurrects the suppressed history of the Cold War’s first victims – the Bikinian people, torn from paradise and condemned to wander a radioactive diaspora. Through meticulously restored archival footage, the film amplifies the voices of those who watched their ancestral home become ground zero, juxtaposing their testimonies against the terrifying spectacle of mushroom clouds that once lit up the Pacific sky. As climate change now drowns their exile settlements beneath rising seas, the displaced fight a dual battle: against the ghosts of nuclear imperialism and the rising tides of an indifferent world. A searing indictment of colonial power and a rallying cry for justice, Nuked asks: When the land itself becomes a weapon, where does survival begin? Director: Andrew Nisker

What Have We Learned About The Native Gaelic Tribes?

For centuries, the story of medieval Ireland has been defined by its invaders—Vikings, Anglo-Normans, and the English. However, groundbreaking new archaeological research at Lough Key is challenging the narrative that native Gaelic society was nomadic or "backward." Led by Dr. Tom Finan, an international team of archaeologists has uncovered evidence of a sophisticated, high-status Gaelic market town that thrived independently of foreign rule. From the discovery of a 13th-century silver coin to massive grain-drying kilns and a potentially record-breaking "royal" ring fort, this documentary reveals a complex society of international traders and master artisans who remained deeply connected to their Neolithic ancestors while navigating the turbulent Middle Ages. Tucked between temples and quiet alleyways, wooden townhouses known as machiya preserve the architectural and cultural soul of old Japan. Forensic Geologist Investigates North America's Lost "Copper Culture"

Long before Columbus set sail, a massive industrial operation was underway in the Great Lakes region of North America. Forensic geologist Scott Wolter investigates the "Copper Culture" of Isle Royale, where an estimated 1.5 billion pounds of high-purity copper vanished during the height of the European Bronze Age. By analyzing the controversial Newberry Tablet and utilizing PIXE (Particle Induced X-ray Emission) technology to "fingerprint" Michigan copper, this documentary explores a radical theory: that the Minoan civilization of ancient Crete crossed the Atlantic 5,000 years ago to fuel their empire's hunger for metal. Amazing Kyrgyzstan: On the road with the Mountain Nomads

Somewhere on Earth: Kyrgyzstan | Investigate Asia Somewhere on Earth is taking you to Central Asia; to Kyrgyzstan, where the population lives in harmony with Nature. The Kyrgyz, a semi-nomadic people of horsemen, carry their cultural heritage with pride. Kyrgyzstan, this small land-locked country, is made up of high plateaus, surrounded by impassable mountains, an enclave of harsh serenity. The Tian Shan, literally “The Celestial Mountains”, rise to an altitude of 7400 meters. Welcome to the realm of boundless peaks. These mountains form a jewel box containing inestimable treasures. Muscat BORUCHEV lives in the Ters Valley, in the west of the country, where he raises only Kygyrz horses, a breed that nearly disappeared during the Soviet era on account of extensive crossbreeding with Russian horses. He decided to bring this breed back and let the rest of the world know about the characteristics of this sturdy horse. Since 2009 he’s been concentrating his efforts on the spotted horse, the charat in Kygyrz. Bastien CHAIX Bastien came to Kyrgyzstan for the first time 9 years ago. Dangerous Roads India: Why do 150K People die on the Street every Year?

Dangerous Roads India | Investigate Asia The roads of North India stretch from the peaks of the Himalayas to the capital New Delhi. Every day, more than 100 million people use them and they account for 11% of all accidents worldwide. With 450,000 accidents and 150,000 deaths every year, the number of deaths on Indian roads is eight times higher than that of the European Union. There are several reasons for these staggering figures. The roads themselves are built without asphalt or guardrails, and are used by a mix of carts, motorcycles, cars and animals. Northern India has nearly 380 million inhabitants, and among them thousands of farmers who travel only with buffaloes or horses. They also use the highways, risking their lives and causing spectacular accidents. But the chaotic traffic and users who drive dangerously and disregard any rules cause additional problems. Drivers do not hesitate to drive against the flow of traffic or to overtake on both sides. The thick fog that spreads regularly in the New Delhi region causes terrible crashes every year. And in the Himalayas

Arab Spring, Wikileaks, and hacker culture explained (full documentary)

Until recently, many of us thought we were safe online and that the Internet provided a safe haven to share ideas, and democratise information with the security of privacy. But then headlines emerged with stories of Wikileaks, Snowden and the NSA. Guardians of the New World introduces us to the world of hacker culture. Emerging from the 70’s counterculture around conceptions of personal freedom, decentralisation of power and sharing, hacking really came to prominence with the emergence of the Internet as a ubiquitous public forum from the late 90’s onwards. Hackers have emerged as both a threat to government and civilian security, or its saviour, often depending on your point of view. ------- Chapters ▷ 00:00 – Intro ▷ 01:37 – Guardians of the New World ▷ 05:00 – Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace ▷ 07:28 – What is a free software ▷ 15:49 – Arab Spring ▷ 28:32 – Censorship and monitoring in Syria ▷ 33:19 – Online hunting and torture in Lybia ▷ 38:06 – Rap News ▷ 39:38 – Whistle-blowers ▷ 45:22 – Data protection and
