About President Biden (full documentary) | FRONTLINE

How crisis and tragedy prepared Joe Biden to become America’s next president. Joe Biden will take office at a moment of profound national crisis in a deeply divided country: In addition to the chaos of the Capitol attack and the undermining of the election by President Trump, approximately 400,000 Americans are dead from the coronavirus, and a reckoning over racism in the wake of George Floyd’s killing is ongoing. How will Biden navigate the substantial challenges that lie ahead? The documentary “President Biden” offers answers. In the film, those who know Biden best describe the searing moments that shaped the President-elect and what those challenges reveal about how he may govern a nation confronting multiple crises. The documentary is from veteran FRONTLINE filmmaker Michael Kirk, who with his team has made five installments of FRONTLINE’s election-year series The Choice and nearly 20 documentaries about the Trump and Obama eras. Funding for FRONTLINE is provided through the support of PBS viewers and by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Major funding for FRONTLINE is provided by the John D. and Catherine T.

Immigration Under President Trump’s First Term | Kids Caught in the Crackdown (full documentary)

With @AssociatedPress, an Emmy Award-winning examination into conditions inside federally-funded shelter programs for detained migrant children and the lasting impact on kids who were held in U.S. government custody. (Aired 2019) Detention of migrant children climbed to historic levels during President Donald Trump’s first term. Drawing on confidential government data obtained by @AssociatedPress, "Caught in the Crackdown” revealed how many migrant kids were being held — and where — at any given time. With unique access — including inside a “tender age” shelter that held some of the youngest children in government custody — the film illuminated what happened when a child apprehended by Customs and Border Protection was handed over to the Department of Health and Human Services, known as HHS. The documentary examined how changes in policies for how sponsors were vetted meant kids were held in government custody for longer and longer periods, and in larger and larger numbers. In 2020, the documentary was honored with a News Emmy in the “Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a Newsmagazine” category. “Kids Caught in the Crackdown”

Historian Breaks Down US Presidents in Movies

Historian Dan Snow takes a deep dive into the historical accuracy of movies that depict the President of the United States. First off Dan reviews 'Lincoln' (2012), in which oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis stars as the iconic 16th U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln, as he strives to abolish slavery with the passing of the 13th Amendment as civil war rages on in his beloved nation. Next, Dan looks at Christopher Nolan's blockbuster 'Oppenheimer' (2023), starring Cillian Murphy and Gary Oldman, who plays Harry S. Truman, the 33rd U.S. President. He focuses on the chilling meeting between Truman and the psychologically traumatised physicist, who worries what he has unleashed by creating the Atomic Bomb. As we'll see, Truman was far from sympathetic. Next up is 'Thirteen Days' (2000), a drama that focuses on John F. Kennedy's handling of the Cuban Missile Crisis in October 1962. Often seen as the 35th U.S. President's finest hour, Dan looks to sort fact from fiction as Kennedy and his advisors seek to resolve this existential threat to humanity. Dan then moves onto reviewing Bryan Cranston's depiction
