Parallel documentary films created by renowned journalist Neal E. Robbins focus on Taiwan, with one exploring Taiwan identity and society and the other on the impending threat of war with China. By incorporating the perspectives of ordinary citizens—including educators, academics, creative professionals, and artists -- the films deliver lively multiple perspectives. Robbins, who brings over 50 years of experience with Taiwan, first learned Mandarin on the island in the 1970s and later taught journalism to Taiwanese students in the 1990s. In 2023 and 2024, he returned to Taiwan, spending six months traveling across the island, interviewing locals, and observing the daily lives of its residents. The films were produced by TaiwanPlus, Cambridge TV and Local Secrets.
