Robbins, who brings over 50 years of experience with Taiwan, first learned Mandarin on the island in the 1970s and later taught journalism to Taiwanese students in the 1990s. In 2023 and 2024, he returned to Taiwan, spending six months traveling across the island, interviewing locals, and observing the daily lives of its residents.
