Orphaned Lion Cubs Rescued From An Active Warzone | Wild Animal Rescue

From the arid desert to the home of polar bears at the freezing cold ice caps, animals have adapted to survive in places humans can barely stand to visit. From the meerkats who live in family gangs and can find hydration even in a poisonous scorpion, to the musk ox whose warm fur can keep it warm even as the temperate drops below zero, animal adaptations are truly incredible to see. These Lions started out life in a zoo, forced to perform for audiences every night. When the male lion eventually snapped and attacked a circus worker, they were sent to a zoo in Baia Mare, Romania. The lions were kept in tiny cages with concrete flooring, trapped together for years until Romania joining the EU meant that the zoo had to close, and the lions faced euthanasia if a new home wasn't found for them. In Kosovo, Brown Bears are being used by Private Zoos and Restaurants to bring in an audience. Often this means that the bears are cramped into small cages, with concrete flooring and none of the water and plants that they need to survive. In one restaurant, five fully grown bears are kept in the same cage, causing them to fight each other and inflict terrible injuries. Four Paws rescue the bears from these unfit habitats and bring them to their own bear sanctuary, with plenty of space for them to roam and grow. Meanwhile, one of Europe's last herds of wild horses in under threat from the government as they're blamed for destroying local wildlife. Every day in the wild is life or death for the animals who live there. A split-second can mean the difference between escaping unscathed or being eaten on the spot by a predator. Elephant Shrews, also known as Jumping Shrews or Sengis, are tiny Mammals living in Africa. In spite of their name, they are neither an elephant nor are they a shrew! This shy, endangered animal has become the mascot of the incredible Arabuko National Park in Kenya. The income they attract via tourism pays for the education of local children, being part of the African community.
