About Can Exercise Reverse Aging? HIIT, Coffee & Brain Science Tested | Myth or Science (2/6)

Can science really help us become fitter, younger, smarter and maybe even more perfect? In this episode of Myth or Science, Dr Jennifer Gardy puts some of the biggest health and human-performance claims to the test. Can exercise reverse aging? Is a few minutes of high-intensity training really as good as a long workout? Can you be fat and fit? Is willpower something you can train like a muscle? And could coffee, cooked food, music, or even sleep change the way our bodies and brains work? From intense lab tests and skin biopsies to MRI scans, DNA analysis, brain challenges, and music therapy after stroke, Jenn dives into the science behind the myths we hear every day. Along the way, she discovers that some “too good to be true” claims are surprisingly real, while others need a little more nuance. ------- Chapters ▷ 00:00 - Intro: Can Science Make Us Better? ▷ 01:27 - Can Exercise Reverse Aging? ▷ 03:47 - The Mice Experiment: Exercise vs. Aging ▷ 05:35 - Skin Biopsy Results: From 70 to 40? ▷ 07:44

Mosquitoes, Grilled Meat & Brain Freeze: Everyday Myths Put to the Test | Myth or Science (1/6)

In Episode 1 of Myth or Science, microbiologist Dr Jennifer Gardy takes on some of the most common health and science claims we hear every day. Using her own body as part of the experiment, she travels from Florida’s mosquito labs to freezing cold research chambers, New York food tests, and a classroom ice cream challenge to separate fact from fiction. Can mosquitoes really prefer women over men? Does grilled meat increase cancer risk? Does alcohol actually warm you up in cold weather? Do we lose most of our body heat through our head? Can eating too fast make you gain weight? And can brain freeze happen even on a cold day? With humor, curiosity, and unorthodox experiments, Gardy puts each claim under the microscope, revealing the surprising science behind the myths that shape our everyday choices. ------- Chapters ▷ 00:00 - Intro: Are Common Health Claims True? ▷ 00:40 - Can You Spread a Cold Before Symptoms? ▷ 01:51 - Are Mosquitoes More Attracted to Women? ▷ 08:00 - Can Grilled Meat Increase Cancer Risk? ▷ 11:52 - Can

Importance of the microbiome for a disease-free world | The Future Is Here (5/6)

After several family members developed Alzheimer's disease, Julia Ravey decided to become a neuroscientist and find the cure. Following recent research that suggests a link between the stomach, the brain and mental health, she meets the scientists harnessing the power of what is called "The Microbiome". Julia travels to Australia, where she meets Dr. Barry Marshall, a Nobel-prize winner who infected himself with H. pylori to prove that bacteria could cause ulcers, leading to a breakthrough in the stomach cancer treatment. However, bacteria are not all bad – in the Netherlands, she visits the Micropia Museum, learning that microbes can also be essential to our way of life. Understanding the microbiome as a kind of ecosystem that is part of the human body, scientists are attempting to increase the presence of microbes across the body by intentionally infecting people with more infectious agents. As microbiologists from Rutgers University explain to Julia, increasing microbial diversity in the body boosts its immunity, and helps people fight disease from the inside out. The next stop is UC San Diego, home to The American

The Healthcare Trap | Why Is US Healthcare So Expensive?

The United States spends more on healthcare than any other developed nation, yet millions of Americans still face medical debt, denied claims, lost coverage, and unaffordable treatment. This documentary follows the money to reveal how insurers, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, middlemen, and lobbyists built a system that is extraordinarily profitable but increasingly unable to protect the people who depend on it. The Healthcare Trap (2026) Producer: Moconomy Script: Paula Miralles Voice Over: Adam Underhill Footage: Higgsfield Synopsis: The United States is home to some of the world’s finest doctors, hospitals, and biomedical research centers. It also operates the most expensive healthcare system ever built. Yet Americans live shorter lives than people in many comparable countries, millions carry unpaid medical debt, and a serious illness can quickly become a financial catastrophe. This documentary investigates how that contradiction became possible. From premiums, deductibles, and out-of-network bills to claim denials, prior authorization, and automated decision-making, it follows the flow of money through insurers, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, Pharmacy Benefit Managers, and vast administrative departments. The investigation also moves beyond America’s borders. It compares the US
