About Between Heaven and Earth | Badass Professions (5/6)

Wind power service engineers must not be afraid of heights. Because their workplace is around 100 meters above the ground, on the operating nacelle. They must not have weak nerves, either during maintenance or repair, because no scaffolding will help them where they work. For their work on wind turbines, however, the technicians not only have to be good with climbing ropes; craftsmanship is also required. ------- Chapters ▷ 0:00 - Intro ▷ 00:44 - Between Heaven and Earth | Badass Professions (5/6) ▷ 44:50 - Credits ------- ------- They are nothing for the faint-hearted: badass professions that demand everything from the men who practice them. Vesuvius - No Way Out | In the Shadow of Volcanoes (1/5)

Since the destruction of Pompeii, Vesuvius has erupted many times, but the lava flow has followed different routes. Archaeological remains around the mountain show that for millennia the towns to the north and east of the mountain have fallen victim more often than Naples and Pompeii. Vesuvius has erupted 30 times in recorded history, and is long overdue for another eruption. The last was in 1944 and killed 26 people. Today the city if Naples and the towns that surround the mountain are inhabited by over 3 million people and the houses of the city have been built so close to the summit and with such poor urban planning that the labyrinth of roads would make escape from the lava flows and boiling ashes almost impossible. The episode is particularly focused on the urbanization of this volcanic area, the evacuation routes and what the people of the huge Vesuvius “Red Zone” might encounter. The scenario is nightmarish. On the one hand the main evacuation routes are along the coastal roads in and out of Naples (northwards and north eastwards) and

Aliens on Earth: First encounter with intelligent life according to experts (full documentary)

Earth may not have been visited by aliens, but since the invention of radio and television, humans have been broadcasting signals into space, announcing our existence to other civilizations. So the question isn't “What would happen if it occurs?” but rather “When will it happen?” With unprecedented access to figures such as the Director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, experts from NASA, the International Space University (ISU), the SETI Institute, and military advisors, the film constructs an eerily plausible scenario of first contact on Earth, starting with the most fundamental questions: Why are they here? How do they think? What do they see in humans that we don’t see in ourselves? The implications unfold into a hallucinatory mental landscape of sounds and everyday images transformed into something extraordinary, seen through the eyes of a life form exploring our planet for the very first time. ------- Chapters ▷ 0:00:00 – The Visit ▷ 0:01:38 – First Encounter ▷ 0:03:28 – Ask Without Answers ▷ 0:05:35 – An Alien Encounter ▷ 0:10:00 – Prepared to Defend ▷ 0:15:55
