On the neighbouring island of Mykonos, criminal structures are omnipresent. Here, the minimum consumption per table in some exclusive beach clubs is as much as 10,000 euros a night. With no much money at stake, nobody dares to take action. Even some of the posh beach clubs operate without a proper license. But it’s also one of the most deadliest countries in Europe for gang violence. In the most deprived neighbourhoods, the epicentre of the violence, many residents feel abandoned by the state. Michael is the kind of character you’d expect to meet only in the most violent neighbourhoods of Brazil or the United States. He works as a crime paparazzo by night and whenever a serious incident comes through on police frequencies, he rushes to the scene. "Since the beginning of this year, I’ve covered around maybe twenty to thirty shootings. These are just the ones that I myself have been covering, that’s not all the shootings.” Gothenburg has become one of the country’s key hubs for drug trafficking. It was here, in the early 2000s that the first turf wars between drug traffickers erupted. We spoke to one major trafficker based here. "All sorts of people want to work for us: elderly people, mothers and fathers, kids, all ages.

For centuries, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia, Brunei and China have disputed territories in the South China Sea. Filipino fisherman have been harassed and attacked. The global coalition against ISIS was never just about fighting terrorism. Hidden behind that rhetoric lie proxy wars and regional power-struggles. ISIS successfully exploited Sunni discontent to take control of large swathes of Iraq. In Syria, when the uprising first started, Assad was able to divide the opposition and secure his own dictatorship by freeing the most radical Islamic prisoners. He has used ISIS to weaken his enemies and present himself as a bastion against terrorism. Invoking religious solidarity, he has the support of Shiite Iran and Hezbollah. Today, 5,000 Hezbollah fighters are present in Syria. The war against ISIS effectively enables them and Iran to control a large part of the country. But for

Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Senegal – when it comes to love and sex, these African countries are caught between tradition and modernity. The Ivory Coast is full of contrasts. It promotes women’s rights, but taboos and persecution of minorities are common. Up until recently, men took the lead in seduction. Now young women are freer to have casual relationships, called “mougoupan” – a hook up without emotional attachment. Madoca says it’s a way to claim independence. It’s a sexual revolution, but 13-year-old girls are still taught to be submissive. We also met activists fighting against forced marriages in the DRC, where it’s not uncommon for a 12-year-old girl to be married and pregnant. Weddings in Ivory Coast are influenced by Western traditions. We meet Cynthia getting married in a white bridal gown with bridesmaids. But the tradition of dowry persists, in money or goods.
