Panzers vs Allied Tanks: The Epic Battle for North Africa

In the unforgiving deserts of North Africa, 1942, the fate of World War II hung in the balance as Erwin Rommel's German Panzer Army Africa clashed with the British Eighth Army, commanded by Bernard Montgomery. The German-Italian Army wanted to seize Middle Eastern oil fields as the Allies' desperately needed to halt their advance. The Panzer Army Africa saw initial German successes thanks to Rommel's daring tactics and superior Panzer Mark III tanks. However, the introduction of American M3 "Grant" tanks by the British marked a crucial turning point, providing much-needed firepower and armor to counter the German threat. Ultimately, Rommel, with vastly outnumbered forces, was forced to retreat, marking the first significant Allied victory of the war and a decisive shift in the North African campaign. Inside the Dark and Closed World of Sumō

Japan: Inside the Closed World of Sumō | Investigate Asia In Japan, sumo isn’t just a sport. It is almost a religion with its stars hailed as demigods. But it’s also a world closed to outside influence, where scandals are immediately covered up, and women are considered unclean. Sumo is the only sport in the world where professional athletes live together 24 hours a day, in schools known as Heyas. Life in a heya is strictly hierarchical, with younger students expected to clean up after the senior ones. It’s a quasi monasterial life that leaves no time for girlfriends or other interests. Women are traditionally regarded as unclean and banned from entering the sacred sumo dohyo ring. But this prohibition was taken to extremes in April 2018, when female firstaiders trying to revive a stroke victim who had collapsed in the dohyo were ordered to immediately leave the ring. The event made headlines around the world and the sumo association was forced to apologise. But most scandals in the sumo world are effectively covered up. In 2007, a 17 year

Could You Survive 13 Weeks of Marine Hell?

This is Thailand's Marine Recon training course, turning regular troops into elite soldiers over a 13-week course that one-third of them will fail. Before an infantry assault, the Marine Recon will strike by sea or air, prepared for unconventional warfare, operating behind enemy lines gathering intelligence and attacking specific targets. Today there are only 700 recon marines, all of whom passed Thailand's toughest training course based in Sattahip Naval Base. It all begins with phase one, Hercules training, consisting of constant physical and mental punishment for 33 days. The troops also go through weapons drills and routines, assaults by sea, extreme heavy lifting, diving into the sea, parachuting and jungle survival training. Those that survive this course will earn the Marine Recon badge, symbolising the three elements they learn to fight in: water, sky, and land. Those recruits that come in the top 10% can join an even more elite club: Force Recon Battalion. WONDER is packed with binge worthy reality documentaries for hours of entertainment. A Peruvian mummy, initially thought to be a male "fisherman," was investigated by Dr. Joanne Fletcher's team. Evidence from textiles and diet pointed to a short, 30-40-year-old individual , with post-mortem damage from tomb raiding. However, X-ray analysis shockingly revealed the mummy was a high-status woman, likely a warrior leader, due to healed injuries and artificial mummification with expensive materials. The Bizarre Case Of The Screaming Mummy Of Peru

A screaming mummy from Peru, initially thought to be naturally preserved, has been revealed through scientific investigation to be artificially mummified around 1200 AD. Its unique reddish coating contains a mixture of marine oil, balsam, and surprisingly, a conifer resin from the Southwest Pacific, over 7,000 miles away. This extraordinary discovery suggests ancient trans-Pacific contact between South America and Pacific Islanders, long before European explorers, challenging established historical narratives. While the exact cause of death remains unknown, the mummy's high-status preservation indicates he was a person of immense importance, potentially a criminal or shaman, within his society.

In 1973, during the Yom Kippur War, the Golan Heights became the stage for one of the most lopsided tank battles in history. A mere 170 unprepared Israeli tanks found themselves defending against a massive Syrian force of 1,200 tanks, launched in a surprise attack during the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Despite being heavily outnumbered and lacking crucial night-fighting equipment like infrared technology, the tenacious Israeli defenders, primarily reservists who mobilized in an astonishingly short time, managed to hold their ground against overwhelming odds. The tide of the conflict began to turn with the rapid arrival of Israeli reserves, who quickly converged on key strategic points. Auschwitz Twins: Mengele's Horrific Genetic Experiments

During WWII, Nazi ideology, rooted in the supremacy of the Aryan race, led to systematic dehumanization and horrific medical experimentation. Doctors played a central role, conducting forced sterilizations and other brutal procedures on concentration camp prisoners, particularly Jewish women and twins, often resulting in severe pain, injury, or death. These experiments, sometimes funded by companies like Bayer, aimed to "purify" and multiply the Aryan race while eliminating "inferior" populations.
