The large number of castles, the steep slope viticulture, the legendary Lorelei and the small hamlets that cling to the narrow riverbank beneath the steep slopes, are all ingredients that go into making the Rhine one of Germany's most romantic areas. Family Spirit: The African Golden Wolf | Free Wildlife Documentary NOTE: This documentary was filmed and produced in 2008. Since then a series of analyses on the species' mitochondrial DNA and nuclear genome have revealed, that the previously thougt African variant of the Golden Jackal is actually distinct from it and is more closely related to the gray wolf and the coyote. Subsequently it is now known as the African golden wolf (Canis lupaster). Please excuse the outdated informations stated in this documentary. This film follows the lives of some of Africa’s smartest and most sociable animals, two families of golden jackals living in Tanzania’s spectacular Serengeti Plains. These animal characters are possibly the most endearing killers you’re ever likely to meet. The events of their lives in just one breeding season are full of drama, comedy, tragedy and tenderness. Jackals live in a nuclear family and they mate for life. Our two Jackal families are neighbors on the Short Grass plains between Naabi Hill & the Gol Kopjes. Majestic Bears of Alaska & British Columbia | Wildlife Documentary Our film journey begins in Alaska's west. We are hoping to find glacier bears in the glacial regions of the Katmai National Park on the Douglas River. By late July, brown bears arrive to fish for salmon while grizzlies forage for berries and green twigs in the nearby forests. This is Katmai, Alaska’s most volcanic region—a "powder keg" of 15 active volcanoes ringed by glaciers. In the Hook Glacier area, we are joined by moose and lynx, while bald eagles gather at the glacial boundary to feed on their catch. We eventually spot a rare glacier bear; driven by hunger, he has descended from the ice to feast on fresh shoots and berries. Continuing our film expedition, we head toward Princess Royal Island in British Columbia. En route, we encounter black bear sows guiding their cubs to the salmon runs, staying vigilant against nearby New World porcupines. Then, out of the blue, a Kermode—or "spirit bear"—appears. Seemingly unafraid, he focuses entirely on the salmon. Soon, a second Kermode emerges to
