Tricked into Surgery: Why young and poor women have their wombs removed

Tricked into Surgery: India’s Hysterectomy Scandal | Investigate Asia In India, the average age of women having a hysterectomy is just 34. Many are a lot younger. Thousands of women are being tricked into expensive and unnecessary operations to remove their wombs by unscrupulous private doctors. As well as leaving their families burdened with heavy debt, the operations push the women into early menopause, often leaving them weak and unable to work. In the sugar growing region of Beed, one in three women have had their wombs removed. Many of them, like Prabarvati, went to the doctor with period pain, backaches or bladder infections and were told they had cancer and the only solution was an urgent hysterectomy. She was 26 when she had the operation. Years later, she suffers from crippling pain and appears decades older. Her daughter had to stop going to school and start working the cane plantations to help the family survive. Other women were pushed into having the operation by cane cutting contractors, who are reluctant to hire women who menstruate. There is a belief

20 Mysteries of the Nuremberg Trials That Were Never Solved (October 1946)

In October 1946, the Nuremberg Trials officially came to an end with the sentencing of the Third Reich's top leaders. However, far from closing every chapter of World War II, that historic tribunal left behind a long list of unanswered questions. Contradictory testimonies, missing documents, controversial rulings, and facts that were never fully clarified have fuelled the interest of historians and researchers for decades. Among the greatest mysteries are the true extent of responsibility of certain defendants, the disappearance of key archives, and the reasons why specific high-ranking Nazi officials were never brought to trial. Debate also continues to surround the circumstances of certain suicides, the authenticity of particular evidence presented, and the ultimate fate of documents that could have exposed information regarding secret operations, escape networks, or international collaboration during the war. Another aspect that keeps raising questions is the role played by the Allied powers throughout the proceedings. Although the trials set a landmark precedent for international law, some critics argue that certain actions committed by the victors were never scrutinized with the same degree of rigor. This
